Focus group.

Focus group

I am inclined to believe that organising a focus group `discussion` was extremely advantageous for me prior to the useful material I had generated from it. It is well known in the eyes of many, than a focus group allows an individual, establishment or partnership (etc.) to learn more about opinions and viewpoints on a designated topic. In this particular case I was able to collect a range of views /opinions/ ideas that all emerged from listening to one (Bollywood) song.  On the basis of research currently available, it is apparent to me that many individuals’ views differentiate from one another prior to their culture, upbringing and age. In light of this, (after deep contemplation) I finalized a decision. I decided that it was best that I asked individuals of the same age rage to partake in my focus group discussion in order to generate a large number of opinions. So in conclusion I decided it was far more beneficial for me to ask 6 individuals whom were 18 and 6 individuals whom were between 20-25 years of age to participate in my focus group discussion. In regards to me being able to generate a number of different opinions and viewpoint as aforementioned.

Those whom I had selected to partake in my focus group discussions were asked several questions in regards to traditional and modern Bollywood music promos.

Presented below are the questions that I asked and the end results of all the date I had gathered.
(First question asked without showing participants the music video.)

How did the music make you feel?
Postives +
o   I felt as if the song was really relaxing and calming.
o   The song made me feel happy as I found it really soothing yet oddly satisfying.
o   The song intrigued me as I had never heard anything quite like it before, in all honestly it made me feel excited for no apparent reason whatsoever
o   The song made me feel happy, somewhat hyper but confused at the same time. The main reason of my confusion was the fact that I did not understand the lyrics.
o   After listening to the song I wanted to listen to more songs like it. As it made me feel curious.
o   After listening to the song I found myself to be incredibly energised, happy and relaxed.
Negatives _
o   I did not enjoy listening to the song as I did not understand the lyrics. So it made me feel confused and somewhat uncomfortable.
o   It was quite upbeat for my liking and I did not understand what was being spoken about so I did not feel relaxed or soothed at all. In fact I felt the exact opposite.

o   I did enjoy listening to the song but I feel as if I would have liked the song a lot more if I had a basic understanding of what was being said. So therefore the song made me feel confused but not as relaxed as I had liked.
o   The pace of the music gave me a headache.
