planning + research on the verge of completion

This document presents
a thorough analysis of the hair and makeup that most Bollywood music premiers
feature. As aforementioned the purpose of this assignment is to primarily
present clear identification of the factors that lead me to making my final
decision in regards to the hair and makeup
the `Actresses/actress ‘will have in my very own music promo. This
document will not only allow me to finalize upon a decision but arguably it
will also highlights the areas in which I could potentially improve upon in
regards to making my `Music Pomo` as Bollywood like as possible.
Presented below are various factors that I have
identified to continuously have been featured within several Bollywood music
premiers. In light of this, I am inclined to believe that a combination of these
factors will allow me to produce/develop a successful music premier.
• Body Language
I
have watched a vast number of Bollywood music promos several times in the
attempt of identifying as many similarities between them all as possible. On
the basis of the evidence currently available (the music promos that I have
watched) It seems fair to suggest that all the main male actors in a Bollywood
music promo all have great body posture. I am inclined to believe that India to
an extent is still arguably a patriarchal society this is vividly displayed
within the Bollywood music promos that I have carefully studied. The body
language of the male actors
seem to me demanding respect as opposed to the females’ actresses whom lack
confidence. Having great posture would allow the male actors to establish
somewhat of a greater (first) impression with the audience/ viewers in regards
to them showing them that they are: self-confident, enthusiastic and hero-like.
On logical grounds, great posture/body language would allow an actor to
strengthen their verbal message. A form of justification for this is that the
audience for a particular music promo is far more likely to take an actor seriously
if they are self-confident, brave and strong as opposed to an actor whom lacks
self- confidence, courage and strength. After
careful consideration I am inclined to believe that in Bollywood music promos
body language plays a major contributing to the overall representation of an
actor as it shows the audience a little more about them. The phrase ` it’s not what you say, it’s what
you do` is far more than relevant in this context as an actors body language allows the audience to perceive
an applicant in a number of different ways.
Eye
Contact
Within society it has become far more than normal and normalized to
maintain eye contact within a conversation as a form of respect regardless of
whom you are talking to. On logical grounds such a `principle` should be applied
to practically anything. In Bollywood
music promos all actors especially men maintain constant eye contact with the
camera. This is advantageous for them as they are showing the audience that
they are indeed worthy of respect, they can speak and do things with confidence
and that they have self-esteem in which is an asset any individual in the audience
would admire. After watching several Bollywood music promos it is apparent to
me that primarily all the actors that star within the video maintain eye contact
with the camera. In lights of this I believe that eye-contact plays a major
role in contributing to the overall representation of the actor prior to it
showing the audience that the actor is: confident, reliable and brave.
Dress
The first time the audience meets
an actor in a Bollywood music promo they well notice the individuals’ outwards
appearance which will allow them to a glimpse at their judgment skills and
traits. Within a Bollywood music promo the way an applicant chooses to dress in
an interview is highly dependent upon the type of video that they are planning
to make. For instances: If an actor was playing a role of an individual with a
high –level professional job in an place where wearing tailored suites is
normal, showing up in anything else can give the indication to the audience that
they do not understand what is to be expected from them nor do they care about
establishing a great first impression with the. (In turn this can lead to the audience
perceiving them as care-less and not hero-like.) Likewise, if an actor is
playing the role of a teacher and they are dressed in club wear, they are
showing the audience that they do not have the knowledge to read a situation
correctly. This could also create confusion as the audience may not recognize
what role the actor is playing which would mean they would not understand the deeper
meaning behind the music promo. An actor’s appearance allows the audience of a
particular Bollywood music promo to cast a judgment upon their professionalism
and their confidence as it allows them to understand whether or not the actor or
promo creator understands that there are standards and expectation within the Bollywood
industry that need to be followed
. In regards to the music promos I watched I have
notice that the actors’ dresses seem to me similar and they are always dressed appropriately
according to the norms of the Bollywood industry.
. On logical grounds, it is clear
that if an actor was dressed in an incredibly unprofessional manner they would most-
likely not receive the
Best first impression prior to
the lack of professionalism and incorrect judgment.
Whilst watching several Bollywood music promos I have come to the
concu
Thorough Magazine Analysis!
Price, date, issue, website, Baecode: it is apparent to me that the front cover of this particular magazine does not cointain a barcade. So therefore I assume that the barcode is on the back page of the magazine as neddless to say, it would not be able to be scanned. Avoiding use of this convention on the front cover makes the newspaper look more astetically pleasing as it removes any unattrativeness that the barcode could bring to the front page. This evidently means that less conventions will reomove the focus of the main image. The price, date, issue and website are all secreted well, as they are carefully positioned bellow the `B` in the text ` Bollywood` in a small, very faint, thin font.
Colour scheme: This particular front cover has no set colour scheme, many bright and vibrant colours are used. The only dominant colour on this magazine is black, which is featured in the fonts, in the models hair, in her shadows and on her wrist. As aforemntioned there is no barcode on the front cover which is a huge surprise.
Main cover line and quote: The main cover line has been positioned in the bottom left hand side of the front cover, along the middle of the models torso, this is the first hinr rhat the main image and the main cover line link together. The main cover line is in a bigger bright yellow bold sans serif font. With a slight drop glow around the edges. The quote postioned underneath the cover line links to the main cover line and plays a part in attrating the audience even more.
Masthead: This masthead is very unusal as it has half of it in a black sans serif font and half in a green serif font. These two combined give the masthead a `sassy`, juxtaposed, sophisticated and modernistic look. Which attracts audiences in a peculiar way. The masthead is designed so uniiquely that it goves the magaizne a foreign look, almost revealing the magazine is not constructed in the UK. The masthead also suggest that the mahazine should apple to a muture `fashionale` audience.
The main image: This main image consists of a well know `atractive` bollywood icon. I feel as if the actress is being over sexualsied and objectified and this is prior to what she is wearing and the posses she is pulling. The poses she is pulling follows and relates to Laura Mulvey`s `male gaze theory as it attracts men to want a wife or girflriends just like her and attarcts women to want to look and be just like her. The image connates direct adress. The actress is holding a very informl stimulting stance. This attracts the target audience towards the magaine. The clothing the model is wearing is revealling as we can see her shoulders, collarbone and chest.
Cover lines: the cover lines have been placed around the main image in a very peculir way. They have been positioned in the left and right column in the rule of thirds but all have different colours and font styles. They all vary in different colours ranging from yellow and white- red and white-pink and white, black and red-green. Some cover lines have bold or italic styled font and some have neon glows around the edge of the text. This means that the cover lines appear to be constructed by a child as theyre all brightly coloured and in your face. This makes the magazine look cheap and terminates the oull and allure that the main image has.
Focus group.
Focus group
I am inclined to
believe that organising a focus group `discussion` was extremely advantageous
for me prior to the useful material I had generated from it. It is well known
in the eyes of many, than a focus group allows an individual, establishment or partnership
(etc.) to learn more about opinions and viewpoints on a designated topic. In
this particular case I was able to collect a range of views /opinions/ ideas
that all emerged from listening to one (Bollywood) song. On the basis of research currently available,
it is apparent to me that many individuals’ views differentiate from one
another prior to their culture, upbringing and age. In light of this, (after
deep contemplation) I finalized a decision. I decided that it was best that I asked
individuals of the same age rage to partake in my focus group discussion in
order to generate a large number of opinions. So in conclusion I decided it was
far more beneficial for me to ask 6 individuals whom were 18 and 6 individuals whom
were between 20-25 years of age to participate in my focus group discussion. In
regards to me being able to generate a number of different opinions and viewpoint
as aforementioned.
Those whom I had
selected to partake in my focus group discussions were asked several questions
in regards to traditional and modern Bollywood music promos.
Presented below are the questions that I asked and the end results of
all the date I had gathered.
(First question asked without showing participants the music video.)

Costume ideas- Male
After watching many Bollywood music promos i have reached a firm decision in regards to the customers i will make the male actors were. In the vast majortiy of the music videos that i have seen i have noticed that the male actors tend to wear traditional outfits. So i have decided that in my own music video i will make the actors wear traditional Bollywood outfits in which consists of a salwar and kameez.
Costume ideas.
In a number of Bollywood music videos that I have seen, I have noticed that the families actors are often wearing traditional outfits. The outfits are nomarlly red, grey or pink. Taking all these factors into account i have decided that the female actors in my music video will wear red outfits. Their outfits will be heavily detailed as the outfits worn in Bollywood music premieres are heavily detailed
